StoreIT - How It Works

StoreIT software will connect over the internet to our data backup centre and connect using an account number that was assigned during the registration process to our StoreIT service.

The Encryption Key is chosen during software installation, and it it this key that is used to encrypt your data on our storage servers. It is also used to recover data if this ever becomes neccessary! 

StoreIT is clever enough to detect important data files throughout your computer and add them to the backup set (The group of files that are protected by the data backup system is called the backup set. In addition, you can adjust this automatic selection to meet your individual needs.

Your backups are scheduled to run automatically at a set time each day, however manual backups can be performed at any time.

StoreIT services are quick and efficient, utilizing send-once, delta block (only the blocks of data that have changed are sent) and sophisticated compression techniques.

StoreIT will run as scheduled and backup selected files and data. At the end of every backup, a summary is displayed our computer confirming that your files have been securely backed up. In addition, Log files are created of the backup activity which you can review.

The first time you computer connects to our storage servers , all selected data will be backed up. It is important to note that the first backup could be very large and (depending on the speed of you internet connection) could take a long time. It is usually best to arrange for the first backup to be performed over a weekend. However, during subsequent backups, only changed or new files are transmitted, so will take much less time.
